The Safety Net: How to Create a Staging Website in Litescaler

We’ve all been there. You’ve upgraded a plugin or changed themes, and suddenly your live site is down.
This is why Staging Websites are vital. They provide a safe area where you can break
things without impacting your visitors.

Step 1

Access Your Website Hub

Log into your Litescaler Dashboard. On the left navigation menu, click on
the “Websites” tab to view your project list.

Launch a New Site

On the Websites page, find the “Add website” button in the top right corner.
Click this to start the setup wizard.

Select Your Environment Type

Choose “Staging website” for testing and development. This isolated
environment protects your production traffic.

Important: Staging websites on Litescaler include a free temporary domain suffix
(.litescaler.work), so no new domain purchase is required.

Select Your Strategy

Choose “Install an app” to have Litescaler automatically handle the CMS
installation (like WordPress) for you.

Name Your Staging Domain

Type your desired name into the “Staging domain” field. The system handles
the technical sub-domain configuration for you.

Configure Your Admin Account

Enter your WordPress admin username, email, and a secure password.
Litescaler pre-configures everything for immediate access.

Launch Your Safety Net

Review your details and click the “Add” button. Your server will spin up the
environment in seconds.
